چکیده

Renal cell carcinoma has a widespread and unpredictable metastatic potential and it can metastasize virtually to any site,1 even after a very long time from removal of the primary tumor.2 The most common sites for RCC metastasis are lungs, lymph nodes, liver, bones and adrenal glands.2,5 Skeletal muscle metastasis from RCC are extremely rare accounting 0.4% of all RCC metastasis.1e3 A limited number of cases regarding skeletal muscle metastasis from RCC have been described in the literature.4,5 We report a case of a clear cell renal carcinoma metastasis to the erector spinae muscle accompanied with metachronous RCC of the right kidney, approximately two years after left radical nephrectomy due to clear cell renal carcinoma. To our knowledge, this is the first case reported describing an RCC metastasis to the erector spinae muscle.

A Rare Case of Metastasis of Renal Clear Cell Carcinoma to the Thyroid Gland, Presenting as a Goiter Nodule, Three Years After Nephrectomy

Thyroid gland metastatic tumors are rare in clinical practice. Clear cell RCC is one of common metastatic tumors to thyroid. We here reported a case of incidentally found clear cell renal carcinoma metastasis to the thyroid gland 3 years after nephrectomy, in the thyroidectomy procedure performed for the patient due to the thyroid enlargement caused by multinodular goiter. A 65-year-old Iranian...

An Unusual Case of Metastatatic Renal Cell Carcinoma Presenting as Melena and Duodenal Ulcer, 16 Years After Nephrectomy; a Case Report and Review of the Literature

Renal cell carcinoma comprises about 2% of adult tumors. The overall 10-year survival rate of patients with RCC after nephrectomy is about 18-27%. The incidence of metastasis of initial RCC is about 24-28%, but this rate after nephrectomy is as high as 51%. The most common site of recurrence is the lung, however liver and bone metastases are common. There are many reported cases with late metast...

Metachronous Periadrenal Fatty Tissue Metastasis from Contralateral Renal Cell Carcinoma

Contralateral adrenal metastases from renal cell carcinomas are not commonly seen. To our knowledge, we are presenting the first case of extraadrenal metastasis in the English literature, from the contralateral RCC 6 months after radical nephrectomy. Patient was treated with robotic right adrenalectomy for continuous growing of a de novo right adrenal mass of 6 × 4 × 3 cm in diameter. Tissue be...

Rare skeletal muscle metastasis after radical nephrectomy for renal cell carcinoma: evaluation of two cases

Renal cell carcinomas (RCCs) commonly cause metastases to the lung, liver, bone and brain but rarely to the skeletal muscles. We describe solitary large masses located in the gluteus maximus and medius muscles in two patients who had a history of RCC treated with nephrectomy. Metastatic RCC must be distinguished from benign primary soft tissue tumors because it requires aggressive surgical rese...

Metachronous metastasis to the spermatic cord from renal cell carcinoma presenting as a high scrotal mass: a case report

Primary malignant lesions and metastatic carcinomas of the spermatic cord are extremely rare. We present the case of a 57-year-old man, who presented with a painless palpable mass in the left high scrotal area 36 months after radical nephrectomy. The patient had received chemotherapy because of disseminated metastases. There was no sign of local recurrence after 3-month follow-up.
